Editorial Policies

International Journal of Economic Sustainability and Innovation (IJOESI) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access scholarly journal, advancing research at the intersection of economics, sustainability, and innovation. The journal provides a platform for researchers, academics, and professionals to share innovative findings, critical insights, and scholarly discussions that contribute to the advancement of their respective disciplines.

The journal follows a transparent and rigorous editorial process to ensure that all published articles meet high standards of academic quality, research integrity, and ethical publishing. By providing immediate open access to its content, the journal aims to promote the wide dissemination, accessibility, and impact of scholarly research for the global academic community.

Publication Model

Gold Open Access publishing model is followed, ensuring that all published articles are freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication without subscription or access fees.

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, allowing users to read, download, share, copy, adapt, and reuse the content with appropriate attribution to the original authors.

The journal operates a double-blind peer review process, where the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process to ensure fair and unbiased evaluation.

The journal is published biannually, with two issues each year, and all accepted manuscripts are published after successfully completing the editorial, peer review, and production processes.

Editorial independence is maintained throughout the publication process. Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of scholarly merit, originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s scope. Editors-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and Editorial Board Members have full authority over manuscript evaluation, reviewer selection, and editorial decisions, free from any influence by the Publisher or external parties.

Editorial decisions are never influenced by publication fees, institutional affiliations, sponsorship, political or personal interests, or any other financial or non-financial considerations. Editors are required to declare and manage conflicts of interest, and any attempt to improperly influence the editorial process will be addressed in accordance with the journal’s ethical policies to ensure fairness, transparency, and research integrity.

Gold Open Access publishing model is followed, ensuring that all published articles are freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication without subscription, registration, or access fees. There is no embargo period, allowing readers worldwide to read, download, share, distribute, and reuse published content without restriction.

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

Authors retain full copyright of their published work. By submitting and publishing their manuscript, authors grant the journal and publisher a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, archive, and preserve the article. Authors are free to deposit the published version in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other appropriate platforms immediately after publication, provided that the original publication is properly acknowledged.

Currently, no APCs will be charged for articles submitted and accepted for publication until December 31, 2026.

If the journal introduces APCs in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly. Any changes to publication charges will be announced on the journal's website in advance, and the applicable fees, payment procedures, and waiver or discount information (if available) will be clearly communicated to authors.

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research, and who have participated in drafting or critically revising the manuscript. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript, agree to its submission, and accept responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the published work. Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all eligible contributors are listed as authors and that no individual who does not meet the authorship criteria is included. Authors are required to provide an Author Contributions Statement using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) to clearly describe each author’s role in the research and manuscript preparation.

Any request to add, remove, or change the order of authors after submission must be supported by a valid reason, accompanied by written consent from all authors, and approved by the Editor. Gift, guest, and ghost authorship are considered unethical and will not be accepted.

We have a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism and is committed to publishing original and ethical research. All submitted manuscripts are screened using Turnitin or an equivalent plagiarism detection software before peer review. Similarity reports are assessed by the Editorial Office, taking into account the nature, source, and extent of the matched text. Editorial decisions are based on professional judgment.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work is original and that all sources are properly cited and acknowledged. Plagiarism in any form, including direct plagiarism, self-plagiarism, mosaic plagiarism, duplicate publication, and inappropriate reuse of previously published material, is considered unethical. Where plagiarism or publication misconduct is identified, the journal will take appropriate editorial action, which may include manuscript rejection, publication of a correction or retraction, and, where appropriate, notification of the authors’ affiliated institution.

We are committed to a fair, transparent, and rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and integrity of all published research. Our peer review practices are guided by the recommendations of the COPE and are designed to evaluate the scientific merit, methodology, ethical standards, and relevance of each submission. Reviewers are expected to follow the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers and maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.

All submitted manuscripts first undergo an initial editorial assessment to verify compliance with the journal’s submission requirements, scope, formatting, ethical standards, and plagiarism screening. Manuscripts that successfully pass this stage are sent for double-blind peer review to at least two independent experts with relevant subject expertise. The identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the editor’s evaluation, a manuscript may be accepted, returned for minor or major revision, or rejected. Revised manuscripts may be sent for further review where necessary. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision after considering the reviewer reports, ensuring that all decisions are based solely on academic merit, research quality, originality, and ethical compliance.

Editorial decisions are made independently by the Editor-in-Chief based solely on the manuscript’s scholarly merit, originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, relevance to the journal’s scope, and peer reviewers’ recommendations. Complete editorial independence is maintained, and all decisions are made without influence from the publisher, publication fees, commercial interests, institutional affiliations, political considerations, or personal relationships.

Editors are responsible for managing any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest to ensure an impartial editorial process. Where a conflict exists, the manuscript will be assigned to another qualified editor. The journal is committed to a fair, transparent, and unbiased editorial process, and any attempt to improperly influence editorial decisions will be handled in accordance with the journal’s established policies and publication ethics.

We are committed to promoting responsible research and maintaining the highest standards of research integrity and publication ethics. Authors are expected to conduct and report their research honestly, accurately, and transparently, and to comply with all applicable ethical, legal, and institutional requirements. Research or publication misconduct is not tolerated, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, image manipulation, citation manipulation, or unethical research practices.

Research Involving Human Participants

Research involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with recognized ethical principles, including the Declaration of Helsinki and other applicable national or institutional guidelines. Authors must obtain approval from an appropriate Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board (IRB) with reference/approval number, where required, and include a statement confirming ethical approval in the manuscript. If ethical approval is waived or not applicable, appropriate reason should be mentioned.

Informed consent must be clearly mentioned and it should be obtained from all participants or their legally authorized representatives before participation, and the privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of participants must be protected throughout the study.

Research Involving Animals

Research involving animals must comply with internationally recognized animal welfare and ethical standards, applicable institutional or national regulations, and should follow relevant reporting guidelines, such as the ARRIVE (Animal Research: Reporting of In Vivo Experiments) Guidelines, where applicable. Authors should obtain approval from the appropriate Animal Ethics Committee or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), where required, and include an ethical approval statement in the manuscript. Every effort should be made to ensure the humane care and ethical treatment of animals and to minimize unnecessary pain, suffering, and distress.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality and accuracy of their work, appropriately acknowledging the contributions of others, and providing all required declarations, including ethics approval, informed consent, funding, conflicts of interest, author contributions, declaration of AI, and data availability, where applicable. Any concerns regarding research integrity or publication ethics will be investigated fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with the journal’s policies and internationally recognized COPE best practices.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies may be used to support research and manuscript preparation when applied responsibly and transparently. Authors must disclose the use of AI tools if they have been used for generating, editing, translating, analyzing, or otherwise assisting in the preparation of the manuscript. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of all submitted content, regardless of any AI assistance.

AI tools or software cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for the published work. Authors are responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-generated content to ensure it is accurate, properly referenced where applicable, free from plagiarism or fabricated information, and does not infringe copyright or intellectual property rights.

Editors and reviewers must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and should not upload unpublished or confidential content to public or third-party AI tools where privacy and intellectual property cannot be guaranteed. Any use of AI-assisted technologies during the editorial or peer review process must not compromise confidentiality, impartiality, or independent human judgment, and all editorial decisions and peer review reports must remain the responsibility of the assigned editor or reviewer.

Authors are required to make the data, materials, software, code, and other supporting information underlying their research available wherever possible to promote transparency, reproducibility, and the verification of research findings. Authors should include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscript describing where the supporting data can be accessed or explaining any restrictions on its availability.

Where data cannot be shared due to ethical, legal, privacy, confidentiality, or contractual obligations, authors should clearly state the reason in the Data Availability Statement. The Editorial Office may request access to the underlying data or supporting materials during the editorial process, where necessary to verify the validity and integrity of the reported research.

We are committed to maintaining transparency and integrity throughout the publication process. Authors, editors, and reviewers are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that could influence the preparation, review, or publication of a manuscript. These may include financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other relationships that could affect objectivity.

Authors must include a Conflict of Interest (COI) Statement in their manuscript and disclose all relevant financial support or competing interests. Editors and reviewers who have a conflict of interest with a submitted manuscript must declare it promptly and withdraw from the editorial or peer review process where appropriate. If an undisclosed conflict of interest is identified before or after publication, the journal may take appropriate editorial action, including the publication of a correction or other necessary measures to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

Manuscripts that have previously been deposited on a recognized non-commercial preprint server are accepted, provided they have not been formally published in a peer-reviewed journal. Authors should disclose the existence of a preprint at the time of submission and provide the relevant preprint DOI or URL, where available.

Posting a manuscript as a preprint does not affect its eligibility for consideration. Once the article is published, authors are encouraged to update the preprint record with a citation and link to the final published version of record. The journal considers the peer-reviewed published article to be the authoritative version for citation and scholarly use.

Publication malpractice and research misconduct in any form are not tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, duplicate or redundant publication, authorship manipulation, citation manipulation, image manipulation, peer review manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and unethical research practices.

All allegations of publication misconduct will be assessed fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with the journal’s established policies and internationally recognized ethical guidance. Where misconduct is confirmed, the journal may take appropriate editorial action, including manuscript rejection, publication of corrections or retractions, notification of relevant institutions or funding bodies where appropriate, and any other measures necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

Appeals and complaints are handled fairly, impartially, confidentially, and to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the editorial and publication process. Authors may appeal an editorial decision if they believe it resulted from a factual misunderstanding, procedural error, or other valid reason. Appeals must be submitted within 30 days of the editorial decision. Complaints related to the editorial process, peer review, publication ethics, or other journal matters will be investigated in accordance with the journal’s established policies.

Appeals and complaints should be submitted in writing, together with any supporting information, to the editorial office at info@primarkconsultancy.com. All submissions will be acknowledged upon receipt, reviewed by the assigned editor, and a decision will be communicated.

Corrections and retractions are dealt promptly, fairly, and transparently to maintain the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record. We are committed to correcting the published literature whenever significant errors or ethical concerns are identified. Depending on the nature of the issue, appropriate editorial action may include the publication of a correction (erratum or corrigendum), an expression of concern, or the retraction of the article.

Requests for corrections or concerns regarding published articles may be submitted by authors, readers, reviewers, or other stakeholders. All cases are assessed confidentially and in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies and internationally recognized publication ethics guidance. Any post-publication updates will be clearly identified, permanently linked to the original article, and remain part of the scholarly record to ensure transparency and preserve the integrity of published research.
